Story of day: Google’s Hosted Blog Service Crashes

Story of the day!
Google’s Hosted Blog Service Crashes

New York - It’s unlucky Friday the 13th and Google’s hosted blog service simply known as Blogger is down after rolling back a scheduled maintenance release.
The site began a redesign in April. However, the site maintains that the downtime is not due to the redesign. If a user attempt to access the main site, they’ll see, “Blogger is unavailable right now. We apologize for this interruption in service”.
Initially, a statement released by the blogger team noted, “Posts and comments from all users made after 7:37 am PDT on May 11, 2011 have been removed. Again, we apologize that this happened and our engineers are working hard to return Blogger to normal and restore your posts and comments. We will post a report once this work is complete.”
The latest update noted that services should be restored soon. In the meantime, the blog hosting service has been replying to user responses and questions through their Twitter service.
Google purchased the blog publishing service in 2003. In May of last year, Google began requiring users of Blogger to host on Google servers.
